With fuel prices at record highs and summer concert ticket sales at an all-time low, the Pensacola Civic Center placed in the top 10 on two of "Venues Today Magazine's" hot lists.
Kenny Chesney's April performances in Pensacola ranked No. 6 for highest grossing ticketed events in venues with 5,001 to 10,000 seats. The sold-out shows will go down in the record books as the highest grossing event in the Civic Center's history.
The venue also garnered a No. 10 spot for overall grosses ranging from Nov. 16, 2005 to May 15, 2006. During that period, the stadium hosted acts ranging from Staind to Nine Inch Nails to Clay Aiken.
The only setback this past season? The March 4 cancellation of Aerosmith's "Rockin' The Joint" tour due to issues with frontman Steven Tyler's voice which result in throat surgery.
