Marvin Matanane, an 18-year-old originally from Guam who relocated to Pensacola in 2004, is taking a stab at organizing all-ages shows. His end-of-summer showcase, featuring power-pop locals Red Lipstick Letter and IN Music Award nominees Endings Edge, is part of his Stab Here Media franchise that is growing into a tour de force among the local, under-25 crowd.
“It’s important to help kids stay busy and stay out of trouble,” explains Matanane. “The thing I always try to do is bring new artists from all around to our scene,” he says, adding that Don’t Die Cindy (pictured), A Day To Remember and Summerdale are also slotted to rock out the Legion.
What makes the show a must-see event for the young promoter? “Indianola Records’ recording artist A Day To Remember,” he explains. “I’ve been listening to them for about a year now and never got a chance to watch the boys perform onstage.”
