Ben Affleck goes to 'Town' in Boston?

Reports surfaced today that Ben Affleck is in talks to follow-up his stunning directorial debut "Gone Baby Gone" with the Charlestown-based flick "The Town," an adaptation of the blue-collar heist novel by Chuck Hogan which was written for the big screen by Peter Craig.

If negotiations work out, the homegrown talent will write, star and direct in the film following a bizarre love triangle involving a crook, a female bankteller and a FBI agent.

Ben Affleck directing himself? Could be a challenge. However, if the Oscar winner's work with "Gone Baby Gone" in 2007 is any indication, this dark romance sounds like a perfect fit.

No word if the "Good Will Hunting" star will film "The Town" in Boston but if history or the fact that Graham King (currently helming the Boston-shot film "Edge of Darkness") is slotted to produce the movie impacts its location, expect a big-screen return to the Hub from Affleck sometime in 2009.
