Indie icon Bob Mould spooks P-town, pens book

While in Provincetown over the weekend, I confirmed rumors that alt-rock icon Bob Mould will spook P-town's Boatslip (161 Commercial Street) this Halloween on Friday, Oct. 31 with his side project BLOWOFF, a musical collaboration with DJ Richard Morel that combines projected art vignettes with an assortment of music ranging from indie-rock gems, electro and house tracks.

In an interview I had with the openly gay musician in March, Mould says BLOWOFF is his way to shed his "meanest man in rock" rep while embracing the GLBT community.

"My life is really integrated and I feel a lot better about myself and understand my place in the community," the 47-year-old emotes. "Now, everything is great but it’s taken awhile to get there."

In other Mould news, Michael Pietsch from Little, Brown and Company announced last week that the indie-rock icon and founder of the pioneering American punk band Hüsker Dü will write his memoir for publication in autumn 2010.

Michael Azerrad, author of the bestselling "Our Band Could Be Your Life" and "Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana" will collaborate with Mould to tell the full story of his blazing, era-defining life and career.
