Centre Street's open-and-shut CD store

Now you see it. Now you don't.

I did a doubletake yesterday afternoon walking down Centre Street near the new City Feed & Supply convenience store/cafe in Jamaica Plain.

Mud Dog Media, a home-brewed media retail shop carrying new and used CDs, DVDs and video games, recently opened in April 2008 at the former CD Spins storefront at 668 Centre St.

A regional chain based in Wakefield, the storefront sold clothing and featured a full skateboarding supply shop.

I'm a believer in the "shop local" concept, so I wanted to buy some tunes at this indie record joint. No luck. Now, there's a "For Lease" sign on the store-front window and all of its merchandise has been completely removed.

Open-and-shut CD store? Unfortunately, yes.
