With the Americanized Mel Gibson version of the BBC drama series "Edge of Darkness" wrapping up filming in Boston this past weekend, folks familiar with the 1985 original featuring the late Bob Peck may soon have access to the two-disc DVD.According to TVshowsonDVD.com here, the acclaimed "Edge of Darkness" mini-series is slotted for release on DVD in North America on March 3, 2009.
How will the shot-in-Boston version differ from the original?
Graham King, Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning financial backer of "The Departed," says he had to make a few changes in the Americanized version of "Edge of Darkness."
“One character asks if it was time for a cup of tea,” King tells the Sunday Times. It seems there will be no tea in the American version."Not in Boston, where it was thrown overboard," the UK paper jokingly adds.
King says that the Boston-based version will be less gloomy and the actors will have "better teeth."
