Boston's House of Blues ready to rock in Feb. '09

If tour schedules are any indication, the under-construction House of Blues on Lansdowne will open its doors on Thursday, Feb. 19.

For those not in the know, Avalon officially closed on Oct. 1, 2007 and was sold to the House of Blues by the Lyons Group. The former Lansdowne hot spot is currently being transformed into a live-music complex that will accommodate 2,500 including a 350-seat lounge and a 125-seat restaurant.

But will the massive structure be ready to rock early next year? According to the Jimmy Eat World tour schedule here, odds are good.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of its album "Clarity" with a 10-city tour, the band announced that they're playing on the HOB stage on Thursday, Feb. 26.

Other acts set to play the soon-to-be-opened venue include B.B. King and Buddy Guy on Sunday, Feb. 22 and Cut Copy on Sunday, March 22.

I tried to see the Gypsy Kings there on Friday night. The line was wrapped around Cask n' Flagon!! At 7:45! I asked if they would delay the start of the show and they said "no". These idiots have ONE door to get in. Such a huge disappointment. I'm trying to get my money back from those fraudulent shysters.
