Hollywood in the Hub is buzzing over the latest rumor that the upcoming spy flick starring Tom Cruise called "Wichita" may be heading to Boston as early as September. Sources say that 20th Century Fox is gearing for a summer 2010 release.
Cruise is reportedly teaming up with Cameron Diaz in the flick directed by James Mangold. According to Variety here, the actor will play a secret agent who pops in and out of the life of a single woman, presumably played by Diaz.
Both Cruise and Diaz reportedly have given a thumbs up to the final script, which recently underwent a rewrite by Scott Frank known for his work on "Minority Report."
"Wichita" will be the second made-in-Boston film for Diaz. The beauty stars as Norma Lewis in "The Box," slotted for release on Friday, Oct. 30. Directed by "Donnie Darko" filmmaker Richard Kelly, the thriller centers around a suburban couple with a young child who receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences.
