"Some of the shots included the front of the clubhouse, so they didn't want any traffic in the shots. We had to close down in the morning, but they (were) actually packing up ahead of schedule."
--Rick Comfort of the Gannon Municipal Golf Course in Lynn says crews from the Ben Affleck flick "The Company Men" took over the 18th green on Tuesday, June 2.
"There are a lot of colorful characters in this script. You never know who's going to pop out and shine."
--Boston Casting's Angela Peri says she's happy with the turnout to open casting call for the "Irish" Micky Ward biopic "The Fighter" with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale last Saturday in Lowell.
"It's a gift to the town of Essex. Some folks have been inconvenienced, but most are excited about having Adam Sandler in town. It has worked out positively for businesses."
--Selectman Ray Randall insists that the filming of Adam Sandler's buddy flick "Grown Ups" has been a huge boon for Essex.
"You are, despite the kidding here, the best and the brightest. You are also the object of my enormous jealousy.”
--Matt Lauer, co-host of NBC's "Today" show, wins over the 2009 senior class at Harvard on Wednesday, June 3.
