Casting directors are looking for adults of all types--bad guys, neighborhood folks, cops, detectives, wives, girlfriends and mothers. But scouts are specifically looking for locals with Boston accents.
Affleck, who recently wrapped filming the John Wells downsizing drama "The Company Men," is already scouting locations for the Charlestown-based flick "The Town," an adaptation of the blue-collar heist novel "Prince of Thieves" by Chuck Hogan which was written for the big screen by Peter Craig.
As previously reported, Affleck was "walking around the streets in the North End (Hanover, Salem, Cooper, etc), scouting possible shooting sites for his film."
The homegrown talent will write, star and direct in the film following a bizarre love triangle involving a crook, a female bankteller and a FBI agent. The latest is that "Frost/Nixon" actress Rebecca Hall will play the female lead.
Graham King, producer of recently shot "Edge of Darkness" starring Mel Gibson, plans to make a return trip to the Hub with Affleck's "The Town."

Casting call tomorrow. Anyone going? I am going but concerned that I took speech lessons years ago to get rid of the Boston accent but now they all want the accent. Also, what to wear. they want blue collar so I guess jeans. Do you know what time period this takes place as to what "type" of clothing to wear. Better to look the part for an audition.
I emailed them yesterday and received this link with answers to frequently asked questions: http://cpcasting.com/email.html. I also asked about what to wear and was told not to sweat it. Like you I'm concerned about the accent. I was born and raised in this area but for some reason I don't have the "accent" except for when I say car that is...lol. Good luck!

City officials were preparing this week to meet with representatives of a movie production company. LONG STORY SHORT: Ben Affleck is looking in Melrose, MA to film from a bank here in Melrose. Are you interested in filming in a house in Melrose that is 104 years old...a former doctors residence where he once had his doctors office.
