Jon Hamm, known for his work in "Mad Men" and the upcoming Allen Ginsberg biopic "Howl," has been filming a lot of those shoot 'em up scenes promised on set of Ben Affleck's blue-collar heist flick "The Town" outside of Fenway Park.
Don Draper in FBI gear and whipping out a gun? You bet.
In the made-in-Boston film, Hamm stars as a FBI agent who becomes smitten with a female bank employee, played by "Frost/Nixon" and "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" actress Rebecca Hall.
Filming at Fenway Park is slotted to continue until Sunday, Sept. 27. As previously reported in Loaded Gun Boston, vehicular traffic is closed on Yawkey Way from Brookline Ave. to Van Ness from 5 a.m.-9 p.m. until Sunday, Sept. 27. Crews filmed scenes at 12-45 Lansdowne St. and 176 Ipswich St. on the Fenway side on Thursday, Sept. 23.
Hamm shot scenes with actor Titus Welliver, known as the Lionel McCready or the mustached "Uncle Lionel," in Affleck's directorial debut "Gone Baby Gone."
Meanwhile, the Red Sox have been playing away games in Kansas City and then in New York while Affleck and staff do their cops and robbers thing. Also, crews have reportedly rented out the Howard Johnson Hotel Boston located at 1271 Boylston St. specifically for the Fenway climax to house out-of-state production crews as well as an exterior filming location.
Also, crews have set up base camp during the week-long shoot at the vacant Boston Billiards building located at 126 Brookline Ave.
After crews finish filming scenes outside of Fenway Park, production moves to the North End beginning Thursday, Oct. 1.
Highlights include scenes slotted for the Pizzeria Regina on Thacher Street and New Spin Laundry on Salem Street which will be transformed into one of the banks under siege.
And, in a move that will more than likely cause a traffic snarl or two, they're closing down the entire Charlestown Bridge on Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct. 4.
Also, CP Casting is on the hunt for ethnic, young adult men for a futbol scene slotted for Tuesday, Sept. 29 and Thursday, Oct. 1. If you're an experienced soccer player and of foreign descent, send a photo with your phone number, age and availability to firstname.lastname@example.org.
