An 18th century-style artillery company shot off cannons while a pack of extras dressed in Patriots gear paraded around the Common escorted by pom-pom wielding cheerleaders and surrounded by red-white-and-blue balloons.
A British couple, taking photos from the sidelines, were dumbfounded by all of the shenanigans. When asked if they knew what was going on in the park, the couple shrugged. "I have no idea," muses the female British visitor. "Who knew Paul Revere liked American football?"
