Uma Thurman sparkles at the Boston Film Festival

Amherst-bred actress Uma Thurman received the Boston Film Festival''s film excellence award on Friday, Sept. 18 and unveiled her new flick "Motherhood" at the Landmark Kendall Square Theatre in Cambridge.

The Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated beauty, known for her work in the "Kill Bill" thrillers and "Pulp Fiction," then headed to an exclusive red carpet event at Stella Restaurant located at 1525 Washington St. in Boston's up-and-coming SoWa district.

"Compared to the photographers in Europe, you guys are quiet," Thurman joked with the crew of shutterbugs hanging outside of Stella, including Loaded Gun Boston's Ryan Miner. Thurman posed next to filmmaker Katherine Dieckmann, director of "Motherhood."

A comedy set in Manhattan, "Motherhood" follows Thurman's character Eliza, a mother of two preparing for her daughter's sixth birthday party while struggling to hang on to her identity as an aspiring writer.

Robin Dawson, executive director of the Boston Film Festival, says Thurman's work speaks for itself. “Uma has entertained audiences around the globe in varied performances and has become an inspiration to women," the BFF director adds.
