Ben Barnes filming 'Valediction' at Malden Hospital

Ben Barnes, known for his role as Prince Caspian in "The Chronicles of Narnia," was filming scenes for the psychological thriller "Valediction" at Malden Memorial Hospital on Friday, June 19.

According to a Loaded Gun Boston spy, crews have transformed the old hospital with Christmas decorations. Barnes was filming scenes with the daughter who is hospitalized after a tragic car accident.

"I was so curious what the LIF signs were then I just went up to a crew member and asked," reports Jonna from Medford, adding that Mel Gibson filmed scenes for "Edge of Darkness" at the same hospital. "It's nice having actors/actresses in your own backyard."

In the film, Barnes finds himself fighting for his daughter's life. It turns out that the pieces of the puzzle that will save her lead him to discover it's actually his life that he's fighting for. For the record, co-star Eliza Dushku is back in Los Angeles filming the second season of "Dollhouse."

Last week, crews transformed Whiskey Park into a holiday scene on Tuesday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 10.

More info on Eliza Dushku's 'Valediction' thriller

In the made-in-Boston film "Valediction," Eliza Dushku plays Ben Barnes' lover and not the daughter as previously reported in Loaded Gun Boston. The father is married and cheats on his wife with Dushku.

The premise of the film? When a car accident leaves a father fighting for his daughter’s life, his journey for the pieces of the puzzle that will save her lead him to discover it's actually his life that he is fighting for.

As previously noted, Dushku and Barnes filmed exterior shots overnight on Friday, June 12 in the Post Office Square location known as 10 Liberty Square in the heart of Boston's Financial District.

Also, a scene from "Valediction" was filmed in a suite overlooking the waterfront at the InterContentinental Boston on Thursday, June 11. While Dushku was hard at work, her boyfriend Fox was walking through the lobby of the hotel.

Random Shot :: No validation on 'Valediction' set

Hollywood East's first car casualty? Crews from Eliza Dushku's indie thriller "Valediction" were fast and furious while clearing the street surrounding the Post Office Square location known as 10 Liberty Square in the heart of Boston's Financial District.

Drivers with illegally parked vehicles like the one above, who ignored the parking meters wrapped with tape and a 6 p.m. filming permit, found that their auto was carted away from the "Valediction" set within minutes of the 6 p.m. call time even though, as one Loaded Gun Boston reader pointed out, the permits were folded over and difficult to read.

Looks like on the "Valediction" set, the show must go on ... with or without parking validation.

Candid shots from Eliza Dushku's 'Valediction' set

Mike Giannattasio, a Suffolk University student, stopped by the set of Eliza Dushku's indie thriller "Valediction" on Tuesday, snapping a few photos with the Watertown native and her beau, ex-Celtic Rick Fox.

"I'm a huge fan of your blog Loaded Gun Boston," he writes. "I really enjoy watching movies being filmed around Boston and getting chances to meet the celebrities in Boston. I read it almost everyday because it provides me with great information regarding all the movies and different celebrities in Boston."

Giannattasio continues, "On Tuesday, you posted that Eliza Dushku was filming 'Valediction' in Boston so I ended up going to the Boston Park Hotel on Tuesday night and got to take pictures."

Here are a few shots from Giannattasio, including one below with "Grown Ups" star Rob Schneider outside of the Boston Mandarin Oriental.

Also, the "Dollhouse" diva mentioned via Twitter here that she was wearing a hot pink Herve Leger dress, writing that it fit like a band-aid. Of course, Dushku looks stunning.

Filming for "Valediction" continues overnight on Friday and Saturday, with a ghoulish Halloween bash planned this time around.

Also, a scene from "Valediction" was filmed in a suite overlooking the waterfront at the InterContentinental Boston on Thursday, June 11. While Dushku was hard at work, her boyfriend Fox was walking through the lobby of the hotel.

For the record, Giannattasio was last seen trying to snap a photo with "See Kate Run" beauty Amy Smart. There was a minor dust-up over at the Herald here about the actress not having time to take a photo with the Suffolk student. However, when she had some down time, the actress eventually obliged.

Eliza Dushku filming 'Valediction' flick in Boston

Watertown native Eliza Dushku, star of Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse" and an up-and-coming producer over at Boston Diva Productions, is back home filming a movie called "Valediction" at various locales around town including the posh Whiskey Park at the Boston Park Plaza hotel on Arlington Street.

The premise of the film? When a car accident leaves a father fighting for his daughter’s life, his journey for the pieces of the puzzle that will save her lead him to discover it's actually his life that he is fighting for. In the film, Dushku plays Ben Barnes' lover. The father is married and cheats on his wife with Dushku.

Dushku co-stars with "Prince Caspian" hottie Ben Barnes and veteran actress Brenda Fricker. Both Dushku and Barnes are slotted to shoot a Christmas party scene on Tuesday, June 9 at Whiskey Park at the Boston Park Plaza.

Up next for Dushku is the biopic called "The Perfect Moment" on iconic photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, who died of AIDS in 1989 at age 42 before posthumously snagging national headlines in the '90s for his highly stylized black-and-white portraits of naked men and oddly erotic flowers.

Mapplethorpe's collection, which featured homoerotic shots of naked men performing various S&M acts involving whips and leather, was supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and sparked a national debate on public funding for the arts.

The "Bring It On" beauty has cast her brother, Nate, as the controversial photographer. "Nate physically has an uncanny resemblance to Robert," she says to E! Online. "Some pictures are really eerie."

Sundance winner Ondi Timoner has signed on to direct "The Perfect Moment."

For "Valediction," the indie film's crew has reportedly set up shop at a make-shift production tent in South Boston's Seaport District. The word "valediction" is a Latin expression used to say farewell.
